Producer / Director

Having witnessed firsthand (14 years) the social injustice and racial inequality within the Coloured communities of South Africa helped provide the cultural acumen for Chace to launch her first full feature independent documentary film 'I'm Not Black, I'm Coloured - Identity Crisis at the Cape of Good Hope'. This historic account is one of the first films to explore the legacy of Apartheid from the viewpoint of the Cape Coloured people, an Apartheid race category for those who were neither black, nor white. Chace produced, directed and edited this film.
Kiersten has produced several smaller projects including a short film 'Tami Tushie's Toys' a finalist in the International Documentary Challenge 2010 (Hot Docs Toronto) and a top 10 short film at the Filmanthropist Film Festival 2009.

Sometimes it takes an unexpected event, or tragedy in one's life to find purpose. Tears may have to be shed to find one's focus. This was certainly the case for Kiersten with he unexpected death of her father. That event alone triggered  a movement towards creating a life's work and passing a legacy of love, compassion, and wisdom onto her son and future generations.

On what would have been her fathers 78th birthday, Chace published her first book of poetry, short stories and art work in 2006  titled "Nomonde's Sojourn - Reflections". And in 2009, she published her second book 'Voices from the Cape' which were the original transcripts from her documentary film 'I'm Not Black, I'm Coloured'.

Social Entrepreneur

Upon her first visit to Cape Town South Africa in 1996, Kiersten quickly recognized a social/identity problem in the Coloured townships of South Africa and has utilized her entrepreneurial skills to organize, create and manage small ventures to help make social change. And for the past 14 years Kiersten has been the voice of these struggling communities, a liaise between those who need help and those who can help. Her largest investment and accomplishment to bring about social change and education globally was the release of her documentary film "I'm Not Black, I'm Coloured - Identity Crisis at the Cape of Good Hope"
The Journey...

1995 | 1996 | 1998 | 1999 | 2000a | 2000b | 2004 | 2008

Personal

Intentional living has been the core of Kiersten's life journey and her work in South Africa is an example of how one person 'can' make a difference in the lives of those living on the other side of the globe or within their own neighborhood. Chace, a single mother, never used her financial circumstance as an excuse to not fulfill the work she was led to do.

Today, Chace, is busy with several documentary film projects, screenwriting, and travels the globe with her documentary film speaking about the issues addressed in the film, America's misconceptions of Africa and encourages others that they too can make a difference.

More to come...

This was a gift from Will to Jada after the birth of their son Jaden.

Cape Coloured DNA Ancestry Project

In 2007, during pre production of Chace' documentary film, she was approached by a group of genetic genealogists to organize a genetic DNA project for the Cape Coloured communities in South Africa. This group of people has the highest level of mixed ancestry on the globe. African, European, East Asian and East Indian. Kiersten is the founder and administrator of this project and assists people across the globe in finding out more about their ancestral roots.
